Tourism NT’s Best Kept Season Evolves Into a Flexible System

Tourism and Events NT's Best Kept Season returns for Year Two with a flexible reason-by-reason system from KWP+Partners built to scale across channels.

Tourism NT's Best Kept Season becomes a flexible creative system

Tourism and Events NT is back with the second year of its Best Kept Season work, and the bigger story is structural. The new chapter from KWP+Partners keeps the strategy that made the first year work — high value, fewer crowds, more space and richer experiences between September and April — but moves from a single proposition to a flexible platform built to roll out reason after reason.

Over the past few years the tourism body has run seasonal burst campaigns to shift travel behaviour. Year One reframed September to April as the Territory’s most rewarding window. Year Two doubles down on that shift and turns it into a creative system. The organising thought is ‘so many reasons’. Rather than making the case once, the work makes it incrementally, adding a new proof point with each piece of creative.

Why a reason-by-reason system is smarter

A single proposition can start to feel thin after a few months. By structuring the platform around multiple proofs, the team can keep the campaign fresh without relaunching. Each asset becomes a separate entry point: one traveller may respond to empty beaches, another to outback light, another to easier bookings. The system lets the campaign target those motivations individually while staying under one brand idea.

‘Year One established the idea. Year Two was about giving it room to grow, so we built something flexible enough to keep adding all the incredible reasons to visit,’ said Tristan Glover, Darwin Director at KWP+Partners.

That pattern is useful for brands with long purchase cycles or varied audiences. You don’t need one message that says everything. You need one organising idea and a delivery system that lets the audience meet the message where they are.

Consistency across every channel

KWP+Partners carried the look, feel and tone across TVC, OOH, radio, digital and social, promoting both the Top End and the Red Centre from launch in September. For marketers, consistent design assets across channels reduce production time and keep recall high. It also means localised media buys don’t fracture the platform.

What you can do with this

Start by listing the reasons your customers might hesitate, then flip the strongest one into a value claim. In this campaign, fewer crowds could have been a negative; instead it’s a benefit. Then create a system where every channel gets its own reason rather than repeating the same line.

  • Use one organising idea and let each channel prove it differently.
  • Turn seasonality from a weakness into the value proposition.
  • Build assets as modules so new proof points can be added later.

For performance teams, the system maps neatly to creative testing. Each reason becomes a hook, an ad variant or a landing page angle, so the brand platform feeds the testing pipeline directly. The return for a second chapter is itself a signal: the client saw enough in the strategy to invest in more channels and more proof.
