Visit Cork sweeps 3 Cork digital awards, named 2026 legend

How Visit Cork turned strong digital storytelling into three wins at the Cork Digital Marketing Awards: legend, website and Instagram.

Visit Cork sweeps 3 top Cork digital awards

The Cork Digital Marketing Awards threw the spotlight on a destination brand this week, and Visit Cork walked away with the night’s biggest prize: Digital Marketing Legend 2026. The win did not stop there. The same brand also took Best Website and Best Use of Instagram.

The awards, delivered by Cork Chamber in partnership with the Marketing Institute, were held at Rochestown Park Hotel and hosted by broadcaster Sinéad Kennedy. They recognise businesses, teams and individuals making an impact through digital marketing across Cork.

Why a destination brand won big

Visit Cork’s sweep is a useful case study for any marketer trying to do more with a regional or niche brand. Cork Chamber president Susie Horgan said the standard of work showed how effectively Cork businesses are using digital to connect with audiences, build their brands and deliver real impact.

“Visit Cork is a fantastic example of that, using strong digital storytelling to showcase our region to audiences at home and internationally,” Horgan said.

That word “storytelling” does a lot of work here. Destination brands do not sell a single product; they sell an experience. A strong website plus an active Instagram presence gives them two connected surfaces. The website converts interest into itineraries, events and bookings, while Instagram turns the place into a daily visual feed.

What marketers should steal

  • Connect your website and social. The judges did not celebrate channels in isolation; they rewarded a coherent brand story.
  • Lead with local stories. Visit Cork is using the region itself as content, which gives an endless supply of material.
  • Use an award as a distribution deal. The top prize includes a content studio package from the Irish Examiner, so the story can travel further.

Seamus Heaney, head of Visit Cork, called the recognition “a hugely proud moment for the team and board of directors at Visit Cork.” It is also a reminder that digital marketing awards are not just vanity. They bring third-party validation, internal morale and, in this case, a media package that extends reach.

Annie FitzGibbon, director of Member Services at Cork Chamber, put the common thread simply: “This year’s winners span businesses and organisations of all sizes, but what they share is a clear understanding of their audiences and how to reach them effectively.”

The practical lens

For D2C founders and agency teams, the Visit Cork example suggests a simple checklist before you enter any awards season. Audit whether your website tells one clear story, whether your Instagram is actually used as a storytelling channel rather than a broadcast feed, and whether you can point to audience understanding in the work itself. Then treat any win as the start of the next content cycle, not the end.
