The line between creative agency, media shop and technology partner has basically disappeared. Inventiva’s 2027 agency list for India captures that shift. The ten names it spotlights all sell a version of the same promise: one partner, end-to-end accountability, ideas that travel and a data layer that makes them perform.
The 2027 shortlist
None of these names are newcomers, but their positioning looks different from even three years ago.
- Ogilvy India — full-service reach across cities including Mumbai, Bengaluru and Gurgaon, plus in-house AI creative studios it built with tech platforms in 2026.
- Dentsu India — an integrated network anchored by Dentsu Creative Webchutney, with a growing sports and entertainment marketing play.
- McCann Worldgroup India — big-idea creative paired with integrated mandates that now stretch into social, e-commerce and influencers.
- Schbang — the Mumbai-headquartered independent packing strategy, creative, media and in-house production under one roof.
- TBWA\Lintas — heritage shop still prized for disruptive platforms that challenge category conventions.
- Leo India — Publicis network creative house betting on human-centric storytelling.
- Interactive Avenues — full-service digital with five-city reach and serious media budgets.
- Madison World — Indian-owned group with deep regional and media planning muscle.
- Grey India — WPP’s effectiveness-led shop, tying creative to commercial impact.
- Havas Village India — creative, media and production sitting together in one Mumbai hub.
Integration is the new table stakes
The common thread isn’t scale or awards. It’s integration. Ogilvy is not just making ads; it’s standing up internal AI creative studios to compress visualisation, asset creation and multilingual adaptation while keeping brand controls in place. Dentsu talks about unified operating systems that connect audience data to creative workflows. Schbang’s pitch is accountability: fewer vendors, senior teams closer to the work, production that doesn’t get outsourced into delay.
Havas’s “village” model makes the structural argument explicit. When creative, media and production share a physical space, the silos that drag campaigns down get shorter. That matters more in 2027, when clients are consolidating partners and asking agencies to own outcomes, not just output.
What this means for your agency search
For D2C founders and growth teams, use a list like this as a buying filter, not a trophy case. The question is not who won the most metal last year. It’s who can ship work faster, prove it moved a metric and run media and creative as one loop.
Three checks before you shortlist anyone: ask whether AI-assisted production is live in their workflow or just in the pitch deck; push for specifics on regional reach rather than a city count; and test whether their media and creative teams actually share a process. The rise of independents like Schbang is the real signal — agility is no longer a consolation prize against network scale.
The list itself is a snapshot, not a verdict. Agencies not on it can still be the right partner for a specific brief. But the direction is clear: the winners are blurring the line between making the work and making it work.
