TikTok is making its search ads more measurable for performance teams. In the Q4 2026 product preview published October 30, the platform adds two impression share metrics to Search Ads Campaigns and starts recommending curated Keyword Packs inside the Keyword Suggestion Tool.
Two new share metrics
The new columns are Impression Share and Top 1 Impression Share. TikTok’s help page defines the first as the percentage of eligible search results impressions an ad captured, and the second as the percentage of eligible first-position impressions. In auction language from the October 30 post, they show how many eligible search auctions a keyword won on the results page.
Expect to see them at campaign, advertiser, and keyword levels in TikTok Ads Manager, but only where the account, market, and rollout support it. TopSearch campaigns, the CPM-billed option that bids for first sponsored position, are also eligible. One notable omission: TikTok doesn’t say how it counts eligible opportunities that a campaign lost, so the denominator stays a black box.
The low-share fix depends on budget
TikTok’s troubleshooting guide splits low impression share into two paths.
- Full budget spent: Increase daily budget and test whether more eligible impressions become available.
- Budget not fully spent: The bid is likely too low for the targeted keywords; make it more competitive before changing anything else.
After that, the platform suggests reviewing keyword coverage and ensuring creative and landing pages align with the search terms. This sequence—funding, then bidding, then relevance—is a useful framework for any search channel, but especially for TikTok where search behavior is still maturing.
Keyword Packs arrive in the Suggestion Tool
TikTok says its Keyword Suggestion Tool can now recommend “ready-made, curated” Keyword Packs built on brand and category keywords. Advertisers can preview and add them through the existing workflow, and the suggestions refresh daily using search volume, CPC, and competition data. That puts machine-generated keyword lists, which TikTok says are backed by its ML models, one click away from a new campaign.
What’s missing: TikTok hasn’t specified which markets or accounts can access Keyword Packs, nor how it chooses the terms in a brand pack. Until the help page catches up, use the preview as a checkpoint before adding any suggested brand list.
Why it matters for growth teams
TikTok’s search ads have only been in the US since September 2024. These additions signal a push toward the kind of share reporting search marketers already expect from Google Ads. The difference is transparency: Google share metrics also have their own calculator logic, but TikTok’s eligible-denominator question means you should treat these numbers as directional.
Still, keyword-level Top 1 Impression Share is immediately useful. It can reveal branded or high-intent terms you own on paper but underfund or underbid in practice.
What to do this week
If the columns show up in your account, pull the keyword-level view and sort by Top 1 Impression Share. Find terms with a small share but strong conversion history, then run TikTok’s budget-versus-bid sequence before you add new keywords or change creative. For net-new campaigns, test a suggested brand Keyword Pack against a manual list and let performance decide.
