DAX takes over dynamic ad sales on TWiT’s 13 podcasts

DAX US will sell dynamic audio ads across TWiT's 13 tech podcasts, while host-read sponsorships stay direct. Here's why the split matters for buyers.

13 TWiT podcasts move to DAX for dynamic ad sales

DAX US is now the exclusive dynamic ad partner for TWiT’s 13 technology podcasts, with every feed moving to Global-owned Captivate in time for fourth-quarter ad sales. The October 1 deal puts programmatic audio inventory in DAX’s marketplace — but leaves the network’s host-read campaigns where they were: with TWiT itself.

“Our confidence in this partnership is so strong that we’re accelerating our move,” said Lisa Laporte, TWiT’s chief executive.

One network, two sellers

The agreement separates two inventory types. DAX handles dynamic ad insertion, hosting and distribution across all 13 shows. Embedded host-read advertising remains fully under TWiT’s direct purview, the companies said. For brands, that means two buying routes:

  • Direct with TWiT for baked-in host reads and takeover sponsorships.
  • Programmatic via DAX for dynamically inserted audio across the network.

The distinction follows a technical line: a host read is recorded by the presenter, while a dynamic ad is chosen by an ad server when a listener requests the episode. That dynamic route allows targeting, replacement and end dates.

Why the split matters

Podcast budgets are growing, but host reads still carry the response advantage. The IAB and PwC put 2025 US podcast ad revenue at $2.9 billion, up 17.6%. Magellan AI’s Q1 2026 benchmarks put host-read response at 2.45% against 1.93% for programmatic placements. So the higher-response format stays with TWiT’s direct team, while the format with scale and targeting goes to DAX.

Measurement splits too. Under IAB Tech Lab’s v2.3 rules, a baked-in ad in the first quarter of an episode counts as delivered once 25% of the file downloads; a dynamic ad must fully arrive. Buyers comparing the two routes need separate delivery expectations.

For media buyers

If TWiT is on your 2027 audio plan, build two line items and two sets of KPIs. Direct host reads are a response play; programmatic audio is a reach and targeting play. Ask for per-show audience size, targetable data and campaign measurement before committing budget, because the release discloses none of those.

The migration itself is tight. TWiT has committed to moving 13 feeds within a quarter that began on announcement day, and podcast infrastructure moves usually take months. The release also says nothing about video episodes or whether DAX can sell into TWiT’s two decades of archive.

What to watch

The first proof point is Q4 execution. If all 13 shows are running DAI campaigns on Captivate quickly, DAX has onboarded a legacy publisher fast. The bigger question for agencies is whether splitting host-read and dynamic inventory raises yield or just adds friction.
