Anthropic’s Power Prompts Improve AI Marketing Results

Anthropic's latest prompting guide for Claude Fable 5.1 shows how to reduce AI tokens, boost low-effort output, and get more useful marketing drafts.

Power Prompts That Improve AI Results

Anthropic just released prompting upgrades for Claude Fable 5.1, and the lessons go far beyond one model. For growth teams, agency folks, and D2C founders running Google Ads, SEO briefs, and AI-assisted campaigns, the new guide is a practical way to cut token waste and get cleaner drafts.

Start by removing “mannered prose”

Anthropic calls a common AI writing tic “mannered prose” — the tendency to swap clear statements for metaphors and decorative phrasing. The fix is not a long style guide. You simply define the bad pattern and say what you want instead. Even a short instruction like “Please remove all mannered prose” can work.

For marketers, this is immediately useful. If your AI-generated ad copy or landing page text keeps dressing up simple claims with unnecessary metaphors, you are making readers work harder. Tell the model: avoid metaphors, use literal language, and give the claim directly.

Update formatting rules as models change

Claude Fable 5.1 uses less default formatting such as bold, lists, and headings. Old prompts that say “never use bullet points” may now create overly dry blocks of text. Anthropic recommends deleting those old rules or replacing them with conditions. For instance, allow lists when content is multifaceted or when the user asks for them, but keep plain prose for conversational or emotional replies.

This matters for teams reusing prompt templates across months. AI behavior shifts quietly. If you haven’t refreshed your system prompts since the last model update, your outputs may have drifted.

Nudge low-effort mode to search before answering

Fable 5.1 offers multiple effort levels. The low setting can be cheaper and still score well, but it relies less on search tools and more on parametric memory. That is risky for fast-moving topics like AI models, developer tools, and sometimes competitor features. Anthropic offers a nudge prompt: when a query centers on a name you do not confidently recognize, search before answering and include the name exactly as written.

For marketers, this is a useful safeguard for any AI workflow where brand names, platform updates, or policy details change quickly.

Use targeted edits and autonomous completion

Two other power prompts stand out. One asks the model to make surgical edits instead of rewriting entire files, which saves tokens in coding, WordPress, and configuration tasks. The other instructs the model to keep working on asynchronous tasks rather than stopping to ask for permission on reversible actions.

For marketing teams, the autonomous completion prompt can reduce back-and-forth. If you give a clear goal, the AI should proceed through reversible steps and stop only for destructive actions or genuine scope changes. That fits well with batch creative production, report generation, and campaign checklists.

What to do this week

  • Add “Please remove all mannered prose” to your writing prompt and compare output.
  • Audit old formatting rules and replace absolute bans with conditions.
  • If you use low-effort settings, add a search-before-answering nudge for named entities and fast-changing topics.
  • Switch coding or WordPress workflows to targeted edits instead of whole-file rewrites.
  • For asynchronous tasks, tell the AI not to ask permission for reversible steps.

The core framework is simple: define the failure pattern, show the desired output, and refresh prompts as the underlying model changes. That discipline will save tokens and improve the content you send to clients and campaigns.
