Dentsu India Appoints Sarangi to Lead Performance Studio

Dentsu India taps Archisman Sarangi to build a creative-led performance studio, making creative production the new lever as ad buying automates.

Dentsu puts creative at the center of performance marketing

Dentsu India is betting that the next big performance marketing advantage will not come from cheaper media buying. It will come from better creative. The network has appointed Archisman Sarangi as vice president and business head, creative production, to build Dentsu Performance Studio, a new creative-led performance marketing practice in India.

Sarangi will lead the creative production mandate and work alongside Vidhu, Abhirup Datta and the wider Sokrati team to connect creative, media and technology capabilities under one offering.

What the studio is designed to deliver

The remit is end-to-end: moving a brand from insight and concept to finished creative at scale. Sarangi’s focus is an integrated content engine spanning performance creatives, user-generated content, direct-response video commercials, brand films, statics, carousels and AI-led production.

He will also be responsible for building teams, processes and production infrastructure, with a clear push to embed AI-enabled creative workflows and real-time production technology across ideation, pre-production, production and post-production.

Why creative is becoming the performance lever

The timing matters. With Meta Advantage+ and Google Performance Max automating more of media buying and optimization, the win is shifting to what the algorithms cannot fully control: the message, the offer and the creative execution. Dentsu’s move is part of that shift.

For growth teams, the practical implication is clear. If targeting is increasingly automated, testing creative variation becomes one of the few remaining ways to move results. The studio model is a bet on that logic.

  • One engine for performance creatives, UGC, direct-response video and static formats.
  • AI-led production covers ideation, pre-production, production and post-production.
  • The goal is scale from insight to final asset without creative becoming the bottleneck.

What Sarangi brings to the role

Sarangi joins from Scroll Stop, where he was co-founder and creative director. According to the announcement, the agency’s direct-response video ads drove more than Rs 52 crore in revenue for D2C and e-commerce brands including Skore Condoms, Specsmakers, Frido, Phool, Ugaoo, The Sleep Company, Zlade, Ambrane, Setu, Sugar.fit and Wellbeing Nutrition, along with more than 72 other brands.

His background also spans film and digital production. At Exordium Films, where he has been director since 2017, Sarangi worked across directing, producing, cinematography, editing and video marketing; a pilot web series project crossed 2 million YouTube views. He also produced content for a YouTube-based startup lessons channel that accumulated more than 10 million views, and has worked with brands including Samsung and Kristal.AI. Earlier, he was head of production at Wimplo and co-founded Keneton.

The takeaway for marketers

This is not just another agency appointment. It is a signal that performance marketing is being rebuilt around creative production. For marketers and founders, the move suggests a simple framework: when automation handles distribution and optimization, shift your time toward offer testing, creative iteration and production velocity.
