ZOYA’s ‘Her Again’ turns spice memories into luxury jewellery

ZOYA’s new High Jewellery film, starring Anoushka Shankar, uses Indian spices to reconnect women with forgotten selves.

The hook

For the first three seconds, ZOYA does not show jewellery. It shows Anoushka Shankar walking through an Indian spice market. The frame is busy with colour, texture and movement. The promise is sensory: this film is not going to explain a product, it is going to trigger a feeling.

That is the hook. Before the viewer knows what is being sold, the film has already opened a memory loop. Spice is familiar, intimate and impossible to ignore. The ad earns attention by asking the brain to complete a personal association, not by showing a new collection early.

The structure of the film

The film follows a woman reconnecting with different aspects of herself through memories, colour and sensory experiences. A fragrance leads Shankar into a sequence of memories, including a garden of bougainvillea, where she discovers pieces from the collection.

The narrative does not stay in one place. It moves through moments such as playing hopscotch and riding a carousel. The jewellery appears inside these experiences, not as a hero shot but as part of the memory.

This is the structural move: memory is the setting, spice is the trigger, and the collection becomes the evidence of a self returning. The film avoids a traditional product demonstration and keeps the audience inside the emotional state.

The idea and the brief behind it

Amanpreet Ahluwalia, business head at ZOYA, says the campaign explores “the evocative power of spices as keepers of memory.” The colours and familiar associations of spices awaken moments from the past and reconnect women with parts of themselves they may have forgotten.

The brief goes deeper than sensory nostalgia. Vasudha Misra, chief creative experience officer (North) at TBWA\Lintas, says the intent was to talk to women in their 40s and 50s. Not as someone’s mother or partner, but as people at the prime of their lives.

Misra calls the work “an ode to the woman of a certain vintage.” Anoushka Shankar was chosen because she is at the top of her professional life and comfortable showing a childlike side. That casting anchors the strategy: confidence, not aspiration from a distance.

Where it is running

The campaign will run across digital, print, social media and PR. It also extends into visual merchandising at ZOYA boutiques and galleries, plus in-person events across cities where the brand operates.

The film was shot by Bharat Sikka and created by TBWA\Lintas. The collection itself translates colours associated with turmeric, mace, cardamom, saffron and rose into gemstones, unusual stones and detailed craftsmanship.

Steal this

This is not just a luxury film. It is a memory-marketing template. Three moves a smaller brand can borrow:

  • Sell the trigger, not the product. ZOYA leads with the spice market, not the jewellery. Find the sensory cue that unlocks your customer’s past, and open with that.
  • Cast for the customer’s self-image. The film talks to women in their 40s and 50s as confident, playful and complete. Pick a face your customer already wants to become, not a distant celebrity.
  • Put the product inside the memory. The jewellery appears in a garden, a game, a carousel ride. Do not interrupt the emotion with a product shot; let the product belong to the memory.

The campaign’s real material is not stone. It is the moment a woman recognises herself again.
