Microsoft Ads Adds 10,000-Company LinkedIn Lists and HubSpot Sync

Microsoft Advertising's October update adds HubSpot lifecycle sync and 10,000-company LinkedIn lists. Here's what B2B marketers should test.

Microsoft Ads adds 10,000-company LinkedIn lists

Microsoft Advertising’s October product update arrives with two B2B fixes that have been a long time coming: a native HubSpot connection that puts CRM lifecycle data into bidding, and LinkedIn company lists that finally accept bulk upload up to 10,000 companies.

HubSpot lifecycle stages now feed bidding

The headline item is a two-way HubSpot integration. Advertisers can sync conversion performance from Microsoft Advertising into HubSpot, then send custom lifecycle events—such as marketing-qualified leads and sales-qualified leads—into Microsoft’s optimization layer. The bidder can learn what a revenue-ready outcome looks like instead of treating every form fill as the same.

Microsoft describes the route as “a more seamless, two-way connection.” Many teams had already connected the tools through Zapier, so the practical win is removing separate rules and triggers. To enable it, you need Publisher access in HubSpot and Super Admin rights in Microsoft Advertising.

One caveat from HubSpot’s documentation: only stage changes after the event is created are counted. Historical conversions are not backfilled, so this is a forward-looking signal, not a retroactive cleanup.

Bulk LinkedIn company lists hit 10,000

Microsoft also adds bulk upload for LinkedIn company targeting. You can load up to 10,000 companies into a targeting or exclusion list during campaign creation or in the Audience library. Microsoft says, “It can take 1-2 days for lists to process and get matched.”

The logic rules matter more than the upload size. Company lists work as “or” statements alongside other LinkedIn targets such as industry or job function, but as “and” statements with location or device settings. Here’s the simple version:

  • Company list + industry = widens who can see your campaign.
  • Company list + location = narrows the audience.

This closes a gap that had stuck around since the 2018 beta. Even by June 2026, Microsoft Q&A still said external company list import wasn’t supported. That forced ABM teams to build large target groups one search at a time.

Test before you rewire your B2B bidding

For lead-gen and account-based programs, the next move is to map MQL and SQL lifecycle stages as conversion events. That feeds Microsoft’s bidder a signal closer to actual revenue, especially useful for accounts where form-fill quality varies sharply.

But keep expectations grounded. Microsoft has not published performance data for the HubSpot integration. Its wider claims—like 42% lower CPC or 64% higher conversion rate on job, company and industry targeting—are internal figures without sample sizes or comparison windows. The right approach is a controlled test, not a wholesale switch.

Start with a single campaign or asset group. Connect the integration, map one lifecycle stage, and track cost per qualified lead in your own reporting before expanding.

AI creative rules stay yours to enforce

The newsletter also restates Microsoft’s AI-generated content guidance. Consumers should know when content has been created or altered with AI, and advertisers remain responsible for rights, disclosures and provenance such as watermarks and metadata. Microsoft may reject or remove ads that mislead or impersonate. Unlike some rivals, Microsoft doesn’t spell out local labeling jurisdictions, so legal review remains on you.
