Chris Hemsworth’s 100M Reach Powers Archie Rose Whisky Parody

Archie Rose launches a global whisky-commercial parody starring co-owner Chris Hemsworth and brother Luke, powered by his 100M+ social audience.

Chris Hemsworth's 100M reach powers Archie Rose's whisky parody

Archie Rose just launched a global brand campaign that does something most whisky brands are too precious to attempt: it makes fun of whisky advertising. The Australian distillery’s new hero film is a parody of the category’s epic storytelling, starring co-owner Chris Hemsworth and his brother Luke.

The film runs 1:45 and is set inside the Archie Rose bar. Chris plays a whisky evangelist spinning a tall tale about taking the spirit to the world, with Luke as the customer who has to sit through it. That setup lets the brand wink at every overblown whisky ad while the bar and bottle stay front and centre.

Why the campaign lands

Chris Hemsworth isn’t a rented face. As a co-owner, he has commercial skin in the game, so the self-mocking humour reads as insider confidence rather than celebrity endorsement. The campaign will launch to Chris’s 100 million plus social audience and run through other channels in Australia and the U.S.

Director Justin McMillan built the comedy around the brothers’ shared instincts, giving them room to improvise. “To let them play off one another and discover, in the moment, what worked and what needed work,” McMillan said. That looseness is rare in high-budget commercials and gives the film an unscripted, shareable quality.

For performance marketers, this is a reach-and-retargeting asset. The Hemsworth audience is broad, but whisky buyers can be pulled out through engagement signals and retargeted with product-led or founder-led creative. The hero film doesn’t have to convert; it has to seed the brand and build a warm audience pool.

AI does the heavy lifting

The exposure sequences of Hemsworth taking whisky to the world were created by Lipstick Berlin using AI, then cut with the live-action footage. It’s a smart trade: expensive, globe-trotting shots get generated without the location headaches, while the human chemistry stays live. The production team planned meticulously around a tight window with Chris, used Archie Rose’s own bar as the set, and layered AI only where it added spectacle.

  • Make the co-owner the creative, not the spokesperson. Skin in the game turns celebrity into authenticity.
  • Parody the category cliché. When competitors stay serious, the joke becomes the brand voice.
  • Use AI for scale, not soul. Let it handle epic backgrounds; keep the comedy human.

Steal this for D2C

Archie Rose head of marketing Victoria Tulloch described the goal as taking Australian whisky to the world with humour. The strategy is clear: local craft, global distribution, and a personality-led hook that travels further than a distillery tour. For founders, the playbook is to flip the prestige format, let a charismatic co-owner mock the conventions your audience already finds ridiculous, then cut the hero film into short paid-social assets for the feed.

That turns a single campaign into a full-funnel engine: earned reach from the Hemsworth audience, engagement retargeting on Meta, and product storytelling for the people who actually buy whisky.
