South Indian Bank’s festive film “Khushiyan Badhao, Diwali Manao” is not a product ad. It is a five-language argument that the most shareable bank message is about relationships.

The hook

The first three seconds put a protagonist on a festive open mic stage. The camera is not on a branch, a card, or a rate card. It is on a promise: three stories are about to be told.

That setup gives viewers a familiar format and a reason to stay before the brand says anything.

The structure

The commercial is built as an anthology. In that open mic setting, the protagonist narrates three stories of kindness and community, each built around a simple gesture rather than a large transaction.

Produced by Prakkat Films, scripted by Sarat Prakash, directed by Martin Prakkat, and scored by Shivahari Varma, the film was released in Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, and Marathi. That language spread gives one central idea local texture across five markets.

Why it spread

The share trigger is recognition, not information. Viewers share the film because it reflects small acts of care they have seen or done. Banking is the sponsor, not the subject.

The format also carries the campaign. One narrator, three short stories, and a single emotional payoff make the film easy to watch on mobile, easy to subtitle, and easy to localize.

South Indian Bank’s brand philosophy, “Investing in Relationships,” is the closing thought, not the opening pitch. That gives the film a reason to exist beyond Diwali.

The numbers

According to the bank, the video crossed two crore views within 48 hours of release across digital platforms. That is the clearest figure from the source, and it arrived before the festive season had fully peaked.

“Our Diwali campaign, ‘Khushiyan Badhao, Diwali Manao’, celebrates the joy of giving, caring and being there for one another,” said Sony A, chief general manager and chief information officer, South Indian Bank.

Ramesh KP, head of marketing, South Indian Bank, added that the campaign wanted to celebrate “the simple gestures of kindness and togetherness that make everyday moments special.”

Steal this

Smaller brands can borrow the structure without the scale.

  • Open with a recognizable frame. A live open mic signals storytelling before anyone says a word.
  • Use one narrator, three stories. The anthology structure builds rhythm and keeps the focus on feeling, not features.
  • Let the philosophy close. Save the product offer, or leave it out entirely, and let a one-line brand belief carry the sign-off.

Ramesh KP’s framing is the practical takeaway: meaningful relationships go beyond the transaction. The film’s job is to prove that, not just say it.
