If you’ve ever paid a cabin-bag fee for a weekend trip or watched a festival bag-check line crawl, Ocean Spray has a different answer: wear the luggage.
What Ocean Spray launched
Ocean Spray Cranberries has turned its new Craisins snack packs into a streetwear activation. The limited-edition Craisins Secret Snack Stash Hoodie is built around one job: carry the brand’s new 35-gram Craisins pouches and whatever else you need, no bag required.
The hoodie includes an easy-access pocket for the snacks and hidden compartments for a phone, charger, wallet, earbuds, iPad, lip balm, passport, travel-size toiletries and even a change of socks. The range comes in three dessert-inspired flavours: Cinnamon Churros, Chocolate Orange and Apple Crumble.
Why it’s smarter than standard merch
Elissa Booth, General Manager, Ocean Spray ANZ, said the piece “continues our commitment to unconventional but consumer-relevant marketing in 2026.” The hook: branded merch is everywhere, but most of it lands in a drawer. This hoodie is designed around a real consumer frustration – venue bag restrictions, slow bag search lines and extra airline fees for carry-on luggage.
That’s the lesson for marketers. A branded product earns attention when it solves a specific, everyday pain instead of just showing a logo.
- Start with the product truth. The Reactor’s Nick Brown said the idea began with three on-the-go snacks people want to take everywhere.
- Make the activation testable. Radio duo Will and Woody will physically try to fit caller-named items inside the hoodie on air.
- Layer reach by channel. The campaign pairs KIIS and Gold96 radio, 15- and 30-second spots, and 50 micro-influencers via Social Soup.
The radio mechanic
From October 19, Will and Woody are running “Australia’s Easiest Quiz” across KIIS in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide, Gold96 in Perth and select regional stations. Callers answer one question: “Where do you stash your snacks?” Daily winners get $1,000; the top caller over two weeks wins the hoodie and a case of Craisins.
The quiz does two jobs at once. It collects consumer language about snacking habits, and it turns the hoodie’s hidden pockets into a live demo.
The growth context
The launch rides a tailwind: Ocean Spray Craisins Dried Cranberries sales value is up 13.2% year-on-year in Australia and New Zealand, with volume up 12%. The brand is betting that better-for-you, affordable, single-serve snacks keep winning with Gen Z shoppers. Samantha D’Silva, Innovation Manager, said more than one in two Gen Z consumers actively seek nutrient-rich snacking options.
For D2C and CPG marketers, the activation is a template: turn a product benefit into a wearable, demo-able story, then distribute it through audio and creators who can show the problem in a funny way.
