TikTok used Advertising Week New York 2026 to hand US media buyers something they have been waiting for: a way to run TikTok campaigns far beyond the For You feed. The platform’s off-app ad network, TTAN, is now open to advertisers in the United States, alongside a batch of new AI tools for checkout, lead capture and campaign automation.
TTAN: nearly 400,000 apps, one ads manager
TTAN is short for TikTok Ad Network, the product formerly known as Pangle. TikTok says it spans just under 400,000 apps worldwide and is fully integrated into TikTok Ads Manager, with brand safety and placement controls built in.
That scale makes it a serious programmatic option overnight. DoubleVerify started measuring brand suitability across the network in August 2026, covering 48 markets including the US, which gives cautious brands a third-party layer of comfort. The announcement is silent on corporate structure: ByteDance retains a 19.9% stake in the US joint venture, and the network sits outside that structure.
An in-app checkout and an agent for leads
Beyond reach, TikTok is pulling the transaction itself inside the app. Buy Direct is a one-click checkout that lets a shopper buy from a brand without leaving the For You feed, built with commerce and payment partners including Salesforce, Shopify, Shoplazza and Stripe. There is no start date, no fee schedule and no detail yet on what customer data flows back to the brand.
Shopping Assistant is a conversational agent that answers questions about sizing, shipping, availability and pricing. Agentic Leads, described in the future tense, puts an AI lead agent in TikTok Direct Messages and on advertiser-owned lead forms to qualify prospects before a human sees them.
Automation with more control
The automation updates are aimed at buyers who want scale without giving up the steering wheel.
- Search Ads Campaign powered by Smart+ automates keyword and creative matching while keeping keyword targeting, bidding and budget control.
- Smart+ Creative Selection pools your assets, Symphony-generated creatives and creator content into one approval workflow.
- GMV Max now factors affiliate commissions, coupons and referral fees into optimisation, so TikTok Shop sellers can chase a truer return on investment.
Why the MCP number matters
TikTok’s Ads MCP connector now works with Claude, Kimi, Manus, Perplexity, Replit, Snowflake, Tencent WorkBuddy and the IAB Tech Lab Agent Registry. TikTok says usage among advertisers running campaigns through the connector has grown more than 200% since launch, but the figure carries no base, so treat it as directional rather than proof.
TikTok’s wider pitch rests on big numbers of its own: a PF Global report cited by the platform says TikTok-related activity helped generate $81 billion in GDP for US businesses, and 54 million Americans bought something after watching a TikTok video. Kantar’s Media Reactions 2026, also cited by TikTok, pegs the platform first for planned ad spend growth in 2027, with 84% of marketers on board. As with the MCP figure, the announcement gives no sample size or method.
David Kaufman, TikTok’s Global Head of Monetization Product Partnerships, framed the package as AI helping advertisers “move at the speed of culture, and drive meaningful business impact.” George Velonias of Wayfair Canada said the MCP is “indispensable” to the retailer’s AI-powered workflows.
What to do about it
Most of these tools have no rollout dates, so the job right now is preparation. Ask your TikTok rep about TTAN access, run a small brand-safe test in off-app inventory, and keep manual overrides switched on as Smart+ automation expands. TikTok’s evidence base is thin, the only new performance figure is that 200% MCP stat, so test before you scale.
