Meta’s 3–24 Hour Ad Windows Hit a 34M Median Reach

Meta moves Ads Super Burst toward general availability, selling 3–24 hour reserved bursts with optional category exclusivity and a 34M median reach.

Meta's 3–24 hour ad windows hit a 34M median reach

The pitch from Meta’s October 15 Brand Building Summit is blunt: brands can now buy time, scarcity and category isolation on Facebook and Instagram. The centerpiece, Ads Super Burst, is moving to general availability in phases after months of testing.

What Ads Super Burst actually sells

Advertisers book a window of three to twenty-four hours and get guaranteed delivery through Reach Planner, which places the product in Meta’s reservation system rather than the auction. The optional twist is category exclusivity: no other advertiser in the same category can book that window. Meta has not said how categories are defined, what exclusivity costs, or whether it also stops rivals’ auction-bought ads from reaching the same people.

Test results are two-speed. Meta reports a median 34 million people per flight, roughly 14% of U.S. adults online in one day. The brand-lift figures are far smaller: a 2.9 percentage-point median lift in ad recall and 0.6 points in intent. Baselines, sample sizes and methods are not public.

Three more products, one direction

First Impression Ads is an early U.S. test that sells the first ad position in Feed to one brand a day. Reels Trending Ads now offers 15 always-on topics, with custom audience exclusions due later this year. Aggregated View Time, still in alpha, would count the seconds a person spends with a brand across a week rather than per view. Meta claims five accumulated seconds drove 32% more offline sales than one continuous five-second view.

The attention metric is the most interesting technical idea. Meta argues short-form exposure accumulates differently from one long view, and its own research—alongside an unnamed independent study—points to cumulative seconds predicting outcomes better than a single view. That would justify crediting brief Reels glimpses, but the unpublished methods leave the size of the advantage open.

Why this matters for brand budgets

Meta is competing directly for money that used to go to television sponsorships, YouTube reservations and TikTok’s premium placements. Publicis agency Spark Foundry tested a 12-hour flight; VP Kathryn Quart called it “seamless to execute” and said the agency planned to use the format again during the holiday season, without sharing client numbers.

Before you sign off on a reservation, run this checklist:

  • Ask for the exact category definition and exclusivity scope.
  • Check whether reservation pricing beats a high-reach auction on cost per reach.
  • Request the baseline and method behind the 2.9-point recall claim.
  • Validate Meta’s 32% attention figure with your own measurement.

Meta’s Q4 2025 ad revenue was $58.1 billion, with impressions up 18% and average price per ad up 6%. A product that sells specific high-value hours is a way to raise prices without adding ad load everywhere.
